My first Gig as a square dance caller

No Gravatar

I was afraid that no one would show up but six squares came to the dance at TTT Dance in Roseville, MN including friends from theBloomington Swirlers (the club we dance with).  I had a blast calling with Bob Maiden.  My patter still needs a lot of work but the singing calls are getting easier.  No one walked out and most people stayed to the end.  Thanks to Charyl Anderson for the pictures.

Congratulations! Now get another 30 Singing Calls under your Belt! Pick the Songs you love to sing or dance to! Patter Calling comes with teaching lots of New People how to dance, not chasing experienced dancers around the floor! Think of it as getting your dancers to the move you want to teach, and manuevering the dancers around so everyone gets to see it from every angle. In my opinion the Patter should be to warm them up so they can really enjoy the Singing Call! But, maybe that’s just me. I think Callers are putting the cart before the Horse! Trying to make the Patter the fun part of the tip!
